Margaret Edson's
Wit

From our audience!

"Lon, I had to send a note to tell you how impressed we were with this production. Beautifully directed, and a seamless array of thoughtful performances. What was not said in the discussion on Sunday night is that the reason people stay to see an ending they already know is that Valerie's performance is so convincing. We really came to love and care about the character she created. She, and you, can take great pride in this one."

"The theatrical collaboration between you (Lon Winston, Artistic Director) and Valerie (Valerie Haugen, Associate Artist) seems to be deepening with every new play."

"Valerie, your portrayal in Wit was incredible, beyond anything I have seen. Your sense of voice, timing, face and movement captivated, wrenched my heart and made me laugh, almost simultaneously. Thank you for a wonderful performance."

"Valerie, your performance was absolutely extraordinary."

"Thank you for your absolutely stunning, sensitive and totally memorable performance in Wit last night! We were so impressed and thrilled to be in that most appreciative and responsive audience."

"Your performance left everyone speechless. It was beyond words. How anyone can master that part is an incredible feat-you have such talent and it was a privilege to experience it."

"The performance was wonderful. I was very impressed by the quality of the production, the acting, the direction, etc. It certainly underscored my excitement about the possibility of having your company at Riverwalk."

Dear Lon,

I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to work with you, Susan (Sue Hakanson, Director of the Roaring Fork Hospice), the cast, and the support staff of the Thunder River Theater Community to assist in the production of WIT. It has been a very gratifying and exhilerating experience to realize so directly the power of art as education. Thank you for all you have done to accomodate the panels, the receptions and the extras beyond the usual tasks of a production.

I must admit to having become a WIT junkie. Having seen 3 performances - seeing the growth of the cast in their roles, deepening my understanding and feeling for the play I am in awe of the talent of the Thunder River Company and the power of this play. The icons represented in WIT, as you pointed out Thursday night in the discussion, are very poignant, powerful and exceptionally expressive of life's journey (both forward and in reflection) when one faces a terminal illness.

My last thoughts for now are a big thank you to Valerie for showing us how to walk into the light.
Blessing and peace,
Rita (Rita Marsh, Director of Caring Connections)
